Durante su adolescencia, mi padre asegura haber sido atacado por el diablo, el cual trató de matarlo lanzándolo a un río. Este particular encuentro repercutió de manera simbólica en su historia personal a futuro; debido a que décadas más tarde fue víctima de varios accidentes automovilísticos y laborales, así como de un cáncer al pene
que lo dejó con su miembro mutilado. Los acontecimientos ocurridos durante su vida me han impulsado a cuestionar qué posición he tomado yo frente a esta herencia masculina cargada de cicatrices y miedos. Es por esto que “La herida del hombre” trasciende la historia de mi padre, y se transforma en una bitácora de la lucha constante frente a
una latente castración simbólica. Imágenes y textos dialogan y se enfrentan articulando una poética mística, lidiando con la extrañ relación entre el falo, la enfermedad y la violencia.

During his adolescence, my father claims to have been attacked by the devil, who tried to kill him by throwing him into a river. This particular encounter had a symbolic impact on his personal history in the future; because decades later he was the victim of several car and work accidents, as well as penile cancer that left him with his mutilated member. The events that occurred during his life have prompted me to question what position I have taken in the face of this scarred and fearful masculine heritage. This is why "La wounda del hombre" transcends the story of my father, and becomes a blog of the constant struggle against a latent symbolic castration. Images and texts dialogue and confront each other, articulating a mystical poetics, dealing with the strange relationship between the phallus, disease and violence.

Claudio Albarrán Briso (1988) es fotógrafo, realizador audiovisual y gestor chileno con residencia en Valdivia. Es organizador y productor general del Festival Internacional de Fotografía de Valdivia FIFVAL. Sus proyectos dialogan con lo anecdótico, lo íntimo, lo fortuito, lo extraño, lo imaginario, lo místico, generando entramados poético/políticos que dan cuenta de sus interrogantes existenciales.Es autor y editor de “Todas las estrellas están muertas”. Sus trabajos se han expuesto y proyectado en Chile, Argentina, España, México, Cuba, Uruguay y Guatemala.
Claudio Albarrán Briso (1988) is a Chilean photographer, audiovisual producer and manager living in Valdivia. He is the organizer and general producer of the Valdivia International Photography Festival FIFVAL. His projects dialogue with the anecdotal, the intimate, the fortuitous, the strange, the imaginary, the mystical, generating poetic/political frameworks that account for his existential questions. He is the author and editor of "All the stars are dead." His works have been exhibited and screened in Chile, Argentina, Spain, Mexico, Cuba, Uruguay and Guatemala.
